Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability and now effects 1 in 150 children born today. It continues to grow at a rate of 10 - 17 %. The annual cost to treat autism in americans over $90 billion. In 10 years, the annual cost is estimate to be $200-400 billion.
Another disorder that is on the rise is Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD). While generally less severe it affects millions of americans in varying degrees at a cost that we cannot begin to calculate.
These numbers are scary. But we can be grateful to those like Jenny McCarthy who have brought to light not only the struggles that families go through, but also the hope of recovery.
While there is no single drug, vitamin or special diet that can correct all underlying neurological and immunological problems, parents and professionals have found that some therapies may be effective in treating different aspects as well as the associated behaviors. There are a variety of treatment options for both
Autism and AD/HD. Professionals and families have found that a
combination of approaches may be effective in treating symptoms and
behaviors that make it hard for individuals to function. These
treatment options may include psychosocial, behavioral, pharmacological
and dietary interventions as well as newer alternatives such as
Hyperbaric Oxygen.
Research indicates that early intervention in an appropriate educational setting for at least two years during the preschool years can result in significant improvements for many young children with autism spectrum disorders.
The key is that each individual is quite different, and therefore must be treated so.
There are many new complimentary and alternative treatments available, these include; nutritional, food allergies, hyperbaric oxygen, homeopathic, chiropractic and more.
This is were we come in. We are not here to replace your current therapies which are bringing results or the physicians and therapist which provide you with these treatments and their diagnostic expertise. We are here to provide other options which up until now have been unavailable to you.
We see YOU the parents and caregivers as the most valuable resource these children have. You are with them on a daily basis and know what their needs are and how they are responding to different therapies. We are here to 'guide and provide'. Guide with knowledge and training, and provide with testing and therapies.
